earthquake disaster. Six tents were provided in fiscal 1996, making a total of 24, and another five will be provided in fiscal 1997.
4) Earthquake education project
In Japan, a country notorious for its many earthquakes, we cannot know when or where a large earthquake will hit, so it is vital that each inhabitant is always prepared for an earthquake.
This is the reason the earthquake education pamphlets have been produced since fiscal 1989 and 640,000 copies of the pamphlet have been distributed to municipalities for fiscal 1997. Moreover, earthquake education videos have been made from fiscal 1990 to 1995 and they have been distributed to the relevant municipalities.
The distribution of these videos was stopped in 1996 and to replace them, fire fighting and training cars have been stationed in the municipalities. In fiscal 1997, the same eight cars will be deployed as in fiscal 1996.
